Ancient Energy

Reiki is an invisible, gentle energy that works by balancing a persons’ energy system, promoting the body’s own natural ability to heal, on any level. Reiki is one of many techniques that utilize the concept of energy. In China they call this energy ‘Chi’ and it is at the heart of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In India they call the energy ‘Prana’ and it is used in Yoga and breathing techniques. The Japanese refer to the energy as ‘Ki’ and as well as Reiki it is the basis of Shiatsu massage. Interestingly in Eastern cultures the concept of energy and self-healing techniques have been around for thousands of years. These days more and more people are turning to Reiki and other complementary therapies to increase their well-being and peace of mind. In taking responsibility for our wellness we reinforce our ability to maintain happiness and health. Your experience of Reiki is going to be unique to you.

Receiving Reiki

During a treatment here you will lie on a Reiki table, similar to a massage table. You will remain fully clothed. We also often cover clients with a light-weight blanket because such deep relaxation can feel like falling asleep and your comfort is paramount. The Reiki Practitioner then lays their hands in various positions beginning at your head then moving down your body, moving the energy down towards your feet.

Reiki builds up over time, generating a more permanent state of balance and longer lasting results. For this reason I recommend a series of at least three Reiki treatments followed by monthly sessions to maintain that state of balance.

Healing does not take the place of conventional medicine but is complimentary to it.

You should always seek medical advice if you have any health concerns. A Reiki practitioner does not diagnose conditions or offer medical advice. All medical treatments should be continued unless your GP or other appropriate medical professional suggests otherwise.
